How to Demo – Step 2: Rotation

Hey,

The next thing I want to talk about is that rotation of a Demonology Spec’d Warlock, and the spells you have available to you. This is simply for single target DPS. AoE DPS is as easy as spamming the crap out of Seed of Corruption.

The basic opening rotation should be as follows:

1. Life Tap – For the addition Spell power from spirit
2. If you do not have a Balance Druid or Unholy Death Knight available to you in the raid, then Curse of Elements should be used. Otherwise, cast Curse of Doom.
3. Immolate
4. Corruption
5. Shadow Bolt

Shadow Bolt will be your main filler spell while your Corruption and Immolate tick away, your main priority should always be keeping Curse of Doom/Elements, Corruption and Immolate up on your target. This isn’t to say that you should interrupt spell that your casting at the time when either of those DoTs drop, just make sure you put it back up once that spell has been cast.

Fester’s pretty gutless really…

Hey,

Had an excellent start to the 25 man raid week last night, managed to get 10/12 down in just 3.5 hours, and wiped on Sindragosa with only 8% HP left to go. We were very tempted to go back in and kill her, but we are pretty strict on finishing on time, as we finish fairly late (Midnight Server Time), hopefully we will just 1-shot her tonight so we can get a decent amount of attempts on Lich King, if not kill him.

Starting it off

Hey,

So basically, to start me off I’m just gonna make a small post regarding myself, just to give a bit of info.

My name is Jmickey, I am a Level 80 Human Warlock in the game World of Warcraft. I am a member of a semi-hardcore raiding guild called Ominous, on the Oceanic server Saurfang. We raid 4 times a week, and at this current point in time we are on the Lich King (Normal Mode) in 25m and 10m.

My current main spec is Demonology, I chose this spec because of the raid buff given by Demonic Pact (10% of my spell power raid wide). I also leveled in this spec, moving to Affliction when I joined Ominous. At the time we did not have a Elemental Shaman to provide a spell power buff through Totem of Wrath, so I was asked to go back to Demonology, as I already had previous experience with the spec, and could go back without having to relearn rotations etc.

Since patch 3.3.3, and the nice buff given to Demonology Warlocks, its become apparent to me that this is most certainly a viable raiding spec, being only slightly lower than Affliction, and now higher than Destruction, and despite now having an Elemental Shaman, I have decided to stick with it (DP gives about 150 spell power more to the raid than ToW does anyway). At this current point in time, I am the second highest Demonology Warlock on the Saurfang server (~9.7k on Festergut 25m Normal), despite being less geared than most others.

In addition, I have begun recording and uploading videos of our boss kills, so far I have only uploaded our Sindragosa 25m progression kill. More will be coming, including Festergut, Rotface, Professor Putricide and so on.

In the next couple of days, expect to see some info on here about specs, gear and rotations (priority systems) for Demonology Warlocks, and if you have any questions just leave a comment.
